Fire Department

The Versailles City Fire Department has always been a volunteer fire department.  Fire Chief Duane Miller is the only full-time firefighter.  The duties of the full-time firefighter include all firefighter duties as well as on-call EMT first responder duties, paperwork and office work, record keeping, adherence to state rules and more.

In addition to the full-time firefighter, the department has six officers, 10 firefighters with medical training as first responders or greater, and five reserve firefighters.

The department operates with two front-line pumpers, one hose cart, a 75-foot ladder truck with a bucket, a medical car, and a brush unit.

The city has an Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating of 6.  The department is striving to obtain a lower ISO rating this year as it has not been updated for 20 years.

The fire department conducts two training exercises each month; fire training  and medical training.  The fire department is gradually growing and continually seeking dedicated men and women answering the call to serve the community.

Dedicated to serving the community. The City of Versailles Fire station number:  573-378-7024.
