Welcome to The City of Versailles, Missouri where the prairie meets the hills. The City of Versailles is located at the crossroads of Highways 5 and 52, and serves as the gateway to the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks.  With a population of 2,482, Versailles serves as the county seat of historic Morgan County.

Residents, tourists and vacationers have access to shopping establishments in the area including grocery stores, sporting goods and sportswear, prescription drugs, hardware, restaurants and specialty shops.  There are excellent medical facilities available offering 24 hour ambulance service and Flight-For-Life helicopter.

The City of Versailles has four beautifully maintained parks for family enjoyment, a city pool and a pool at the Rolling Hills Country Club, a state of the art golf course for the golfing enthusiast, located north of Versailles .

History enthusiasts of all ages will want to visit the Morgan County Historical Society Museum located in the old Martin Hotel in downtown Versailles.  The museum is on the National Register of Historic Sites in Washington, D.C.  A museum store is on site offering a multitude of arts and crafts and other quality items.

The Royal Theatre which was originally a movie theater now hosts fine arts, locally-produced plays and musical entertainment as well as professional acts throughout the year.

Versailles is a city of many fine churches.  Visitors are always welcomed to worship.

A family oriented city, the City of Versailles hosts a variety of events for families:  an open air market sponsored by the Versailles Lions club at the Morgan County Fairgrounds April through October; an annual free concert in the park featuring a fair-like afternoon leading to a concert in the evening; the annual Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza; The Versailles Saddle and Sirloin Club's annual rodeo in July; the Morgan County Fair and the Versailles Old Tyme Apple Festival, voted best festival in the State of Missouri and held on the first Saturday in October each year.  The Festival features vendor booths, a fun run and walk, parade, fiddlers,pie contests, a live theatre production, car cruise, sock hop and children's contests, games and more.
